for attributing authorship, as mDef is a free, open and royalty free format licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/us
there are other formats like mDef that have a copyright but can also be freely used. here are a couple of examples: http://xspf.org/xspf-v1.html http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3072.html
